Choosing the right material can be hard. Here’s a list of the types of flooring and their advantages:

Wood

The classic option, available in oak, maple, and bamboo. Wood can last a long time, with proper care and maintenance. Cleaning only require sweeping and occasional application of a floor care solution.

Laminate

A popular, lower-cost alternative for wood or stone, laminates are hearty and resist fading or stains for a long periods of time. Typically affected by moisture like wood, but requires less care. Clean-up consists only of sweeping and wet mopping from time to time.

Stone

Stone tiles come in a lot of different types including Marble, Travertine, Granite, Slate and Limestone. A stone floor will provide a durable, upscale look to your home. Stone floors can also withstand relatively high temperatures and are a great option for areas near sources of heat like fireplaces, stoves, or furnaces.

Tile

Tile comes in many different types like ceramic, porcelain, quarry, and mosaic. Glazed tiles can be stain-resistant. Sharing heat resistance with stone floors, they can be used near sources of heat as well.

Vinyl

Even though they are synthetic, vinyl can achieve the rich and elegant look of wood floors. Vinyl flooring also comes in different colors and patterns, and have made great improvements over the time. Vinyl floors are also durable and will resist impacts and scratches.

Linoleum

Linoleum is a composite material, considered to be one of the more environmentally safe options. Linoleum floors resist impacts and dents. Oils cannot also affect linoleum flooring, nor damage it.
